Overview In this role you will manage coverage and bad faith litigation nationwide, providing expert legal guidance to the claims team. You will oversee outside counsel, review filings, and seek fair, efficient resolutions. You will analyze coverage decisions across jurisdictions and train the Claims Department on litigation management and policy language. You will also contribute to policy development and address complex claim issues, playing a key part in shaping outcomes for insureds and the company. Responsibilities- Manage nationwide coverage and bad faith litigation with competent legal counsel advice
- Supervise outside coverage counsel, review filings and discovery responses
- Seek fair, expeditious, and economical claim resolutions
- Advise the Claim Department on coverage issues and review coverage letters
- Research and analyze external coverage and bad faith decisions across multiple jurisdictions
- Provide training and legal guidance to the Claim Department on coverage, litigation management, and claim handling
- Advise on policy language and product development
- Support special projects and other duties as needed
Key requirements- J.D. required
- Minimum 8 years of practice in law at a law firm or insurance company (preferably both)
- Experience handling coverage and bad faith litigation under commercial general liability and/or first-party property policies
- Experience with additional product lines preferred
- Experience handling bodily injury and property damage claims or litigation
- Experience analyzing coverage under CGL, first-party property, and other policies and defending bad faith claims
- Experience with coverage and bad faith litigation across multiple US jurisdictions preferred
- Experience with insurance policy drafting preferred
