Overview In this Category Manager role, you will lead sourcing and procurement for operations and maintenance materials, repairs, and rentals to support Venture Global Projects and Operations. You will partner with internal stakeholders to set procurement strategies, issue bids, negotiate advanced contracts, and drive on-time delivery within budgets. You'll manage vendor pre-qualifications, RFPs, framing agreements, and complex purchasing contracts to maximize value. This position combines strategic buying with hands-on negotiation to reduce risk and cost while maintaining quality and schedule.
Responsibilities- Lead development of procurement strategies for operations and maintenance materials, repairs, rentals
- Issue and complete NDAs with potential bidders/vendors
- Lead vendor pre-qualification, generate RFPs, develop Frame Agreements, and issue/purchase orders or complex contracts
- Facilitate pre-bid conferences, evaluate vendor responses, and recommend awards
- Negotiate terms, scopes of work, and pricing to protect company
- Draft and negotiate contracts with support from Legal, Risk, and Contract Administration
- Provide vendor evaluation insights to stakeholders for selections
- Ensure compliance with company policies and laws, and maintain relationships with stakeholders
Key requirements- 10+ years in procurement/supply chain with complex civil/mechanical scopes
- Expertise in a category of direct material purchases (Electrical, Mechanical, Rotating, Rental or Fabricated Equipment)
- Strong knowledge of sourcing, contracting, and procurement processes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office, SAP and Coupa (preferred)
- Ability to work in a dynamic team with changing priorities
- Initiative, attention to detail, and ability to prepare procurement reports
- Willingness to travel and meet in-office requirements
- Legal experience is a plus
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
