Overview As an Environmental Field Chemist, you will handle and package chemical waste at customer sites, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. You will work across indoor and outdoor environments, support HHW collections, and assist with lab moves while interacting with clients. You play a frontline role in delivering safe, compliant waste management services and have opportunities for career growth within Clean Harbors. Responsibilities- Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications
- Inspect staging areas, storage drums, and housekeeping for compliance and safety
- Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal
- Perform field projects at customer sites, including Fortune 500 companies
- Approve final project documentation before shipment per OSHA, EPA, DOT and policies
- Conduct site-specific waste handling per Federal, State, and local regulations and health and safety plans
- Sample and profile new waste streams or those requiring analytical testing
- Verify drum counts and condition to ensure shipability according to company policy
- Operate vehicles in compliance with DOT and regulatory requirements
- Follow all local, state (provincial), and federal regulations and guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Valid Driver's license
- By position, obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months
- Strong customer service skills
- Pass background check, drug test, and physical as required by position
- Compliance with OSHA respirator facial hair standards per 29 CFR 1910.34
