Overview In this role you will lead civil engineering efforts for water conveyance projects across the Southwest, focusing on gravity sewers, force mains, and water transmission systems. You'll serve as Engineer-of-Record, guide design and construction documents, and shape project scopes with clients. You'll mentor local staff and help grow Stantec's water market in New Mexico, contributing to high-impact, transformational projects. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver reliable, innovative water solutions for communities.

Responsibilities- Lead multi-disciplinary teams on water conveyance projects in the Southwest
- Perform technical evaluations for planning and design of sewer and water systems
- Serve as Engineer-of-Record, prepare specifications and construction documents; ensure technical accuracy
- Manage client relationships and develop new ones; support scoping, value analysis, and cost estimating
- Supervise engineers and staff; set priorities, budgets, and schedules
- Select and specify civil/mechanical systems and components (pipes, pumps, valves)
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to value engineering and constructability reviews
- Act as primary client/coordinator with agencies and contractors; obtain approvals
- Engage in professional organizations; present at conferences and write technical papers
- Develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches; support proposals and client negotiations
Key requirements- Bachelor in Civil Engineering or related field; PE registration or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Minimum 5 years of experience in water, wastewater, or stormwater conveyance design
- Experience with gravity sewer, water distribution, and transmission mains design
- Proficiency with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, InfoWORKS, StormCAD, WaterCAD)
- Knowledge of trenchless construction methods and pipe materials (PVC, ductile iron, steel, HDPE)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; public speaking experience
