Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will join cross-functional product design teams to develop new products and modify existing ones, ensuring mechanical integrity and customer compatibility. You will drive design concepts, perform analyses, and mentor team members while upholding standards and exploring advanced design capabilities. You'll lead qualification planning and testing, evaluate vendor capabilities, and contribute to cost reduction and process improvements. This role blends leadership with hands-on design to support DoD-ready, high-quality electronics packaging.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze design concepts to meet customer requirements and evaluate approaches for specification compliance
  • Review and negotiate mechanical portions of customer specifications
  • Perform mechanical analysis and ensure requirements are met
  • Mentor and supervise engineers, designers, and drafters on projects
  • Interface with project, process, and design engineers to ensure successful designs
  • Promote innovative concepts and cost-effective solutions
  • Develop qualification plans and conduct tests for new designs/materials/processes
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and materials for compliance
  • Participate in hiring, training, and development of mechanical staff
  • Prepare for and participate in design reviews with customers and internal teams
  • Contribute to product improvements and cost reduction initiatives
  • Develop and maintain mechanical design standards
  • Comply with safety, ISO, EEO, OSHA policies and anti-kickback rules
  • Perform advanced design, analysis, and qualification testing under minimal supervision
  • Lead technical reviews and present design outcomes to internal teams and customers
  • Serve as a technical leader and help identify skills gaps and develop others
Key requirements
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant mechanical design experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with FEA programs (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation) and CAD tools (AutoCAD Inventor or similar) desired
  • Previous electronic packaging experience and technical supervisory experience desired
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret DoD clearance
  • Strong GD&T proficiency
  • Ability to design experiments, analyze data, and perform structured problem solving
  • Excellent written communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to multitask, manage multiple projects, and work independently or in teams
  • Knowledge of safety, ISO, EEO, OSHA, and export controls (ITAR/EAR) requirements
