Overview

In this role, you will manage and review complex tax engagements for construction clients, aligning federal, state, and multi-state compliance with firm standards. You'll guide tax planning around contractor structures and long-term contracts, while building enduring client relationships and providing year-round strategic advice. You'll lead and develop tax teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely engagement management. Responsibilities
  • Manage and review complex tax returns for construction clients (partnerships, S-Corps, C-Corps, individuals)
  • Oversee multi-state tax compliance for construction portfolios
  • Apply long-term contract accounting methods (e.g., percentage-of-completion) and related revenue recognition
  • Perform construction-specific tax research and advise on bonding, nexus, and multi-entity structures
  • Provide tax planning guidance on entity selection and owner/partner tax implications
  • Offer proactive advisory services on cash flow, depreciation, capital planning
  • Identify tax-savings opportunities and project-based planning
  • Serve as primary client contact and build long-term relationships with construction executives
  • Supervise, coach, and develop staff while managing multiple engagements
  • Ensure work meets firm quality standards, deadlines, and client expectations
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of public accounting tax experience (preferably in construction)
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, multi-entity structures, pass-through taxation, and long-term contract methods
  • CPA required
  • Experience reviewing complex returns and managing client portfolios
  • Proven ability to lead teams and mentor staff
  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, or similar platforms
  • Excellent communication with construction executives and external advisors
