Overview In this role you support radiologic services and patient flow within the x-ray area, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality imaging. You work closely with physicians and the radiology team to operate imaging equipment, protect patients from radiation exposure, and process studies in PACS for accurate billing. You take responsibility for the x-ray portion of quality assurance and daily equipment maintenance, contributing to reliable, patient-centered care. Responsibilities- Operate imaging equipment to perform diagnostic radiologic services and assist physicians during imaging procedures
- Position and immobilize patients as needed; calculate exposure factors and ensure radiation protection
- Evaluate radiographs for technical quality and contribute to QA activities
- Maintain x-ray imaging and processing records; manage PACS entries for study registration and completion for billing
- Perform clerical tasks in the clinical x-ray area and assume responsibility for the assigned area
- Assist in scheduling, coverage, and continuity of clinical activity; pursue ongoing continuing education
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to radiology
- Other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Graduate of an AMA approved radiography program
- 1 year minimum radiographs experience preferred
- NYS Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification
- Imaging equipment operation
- PACS system usage
- Radiation protection practices
- Quality assurance of radiographs
- Study and patient registration in PACS
