Civil Project Engineer

Overview

In this role, you support engineering work to ensure compliance with environmental regulations while delivering civil design for stormwater, water/wastewater, and distribution/collection systems. You will collaborate with clients, engineers, surveyors, and project managers to achieve timely, cost-effective projects that meet regulatory standards. You'll perform hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, feasibility analyses, and lead plan development to convey design intent. This role offers meaningful impact in environmental infrastructure and requires strong collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities
  • Design and construction for stormwater, water/wastewater treatment, distribution and collection systems
  • Support for municipal and private development projects (green infrastructure, sediment & erosion control, utility services, stormwater management, wastewater systems, grading design)
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM
  • Generate H&H reports with modeling results and regulatory compliance recommendations
  • Feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for utility projects
  • Lead plan set development to convey design intent and project goals
  • Provide technical support on water resources or treatment issues to government agencies
  • Prepare bid documents, project specifications, and undertaking construction cost estimates
  • Conduct water quality studies to identify pollutant sources
  • Prepare permit applications (EPA PTI, SWMPs, floodplain, NPDES, and other regulatory documentation)
  • Ensure designs comply with industry codes, standards, and regulations
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and engineers to deliver projects within scope and budget
  • Maintain client-focused solutions, ensure milestones, build relationships, and uphold quality standards
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • Ohio PE license or E.I. with ability to obtain PE within 12 months
  • Minimum 3 years of Site/Civil Engineering experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D (civil engineering projects)
  • GIS software familiarity
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM)
