Overview In this Controller role, you will own all accounting operations in a fast-growing startup. You'll drive scalable financial processes, ensure GAAP compliance, and support rapid expansion through cross-functional collaboration. You'll build robust systems for revenue recognition and cash management, partnering with Sales, Legal, and Operations. The position offers meaningful impact by shaping the company's financial backbone in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end accounting across AP, AR, billing, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and cash management
- Manage monthly close, GL reconciliations, journal entries, and GAAP financial statements
- Coordinate with external firms for audits, tax filings, and internal controls
- Optimize accounting software and ERP systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks) and billing platforms (Stripe, Aleph)
- Partner with Sales, Legal, and Operations on contracts and revenue recognition workflows
- Oversee bespoke client invoicing, multi-tiered billing, and collections for Fortune 500 clients
- Support strategic FP&A, process improvement, and automation initiatives to scale growth
Key requirements- 7+ years progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years leading accounting processes and month-end close
- Deep expertise in GAAP, ASC 606, and financial reporting standards
- Experience managing ERP and billing platforms (NetSuite, QuickBooks, Ramp, Stripe, Aleph)
- Hands-on approach to implementing scalable workflows in a startup
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- CPA certification strongly preferred
