Overview In this Department Manager role, you lead the Governmental/Municipal practice in Raleigh to grow the regional business and deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions. You'll set strategic direction, manage budgets and resources, and mentor staff while collaborating with cross-functional teams. You'll shape project outcomes, ensure client satisfaction, and pursue market opportunities that align with the firm's public-sector mission. Responsibilities- Provide leadership and strategic direction to achieve financial and growth targets for the discipline
- Oversee productivity, profitability, client satisfaction, and quality of work
- Develop and lead discipline marketing and business development efforts with marketing and BD teams
- Build and manage a production team and monitor utilization and backlog
- Monitor budgets, billing, and collections; ensure timely staff utilization and performance
- Foster staff development, recruitment activity, and employee relations
- Ensure policy adherence; ensure compliance with all procedures
- Serve as project manager and resource for staff on projects, including scope, schedule, budget
- Provide technical assistance and supervision for proposals and contracts
- Prepare materials for client/agency meetings and attend as needed
- Develop staff capabilities for successful execution and provide mentorship
- Manage staff performance, evaluations, and promotions input
- Collaborate with other firms and manage subconsultant contracts
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- P.E. license required
- 8+ years of experience in civil/municipal engineering focused on public infrastructure design
- Strong written and spoken English for communications and instructions
- Ability to manage clients and develop new business
