Overview As Safety Manager in New York, you'll lead site safety programs and ensure OSHA-compliant practices across projects. You report to the Regional Safety Director and partner with project leadership to protect workers and uphold safety standards. You'll develop site-specific safety plans, mentor safety coordinators, and drive incident prevention and training. Responsibilities- Develop site-specific safety programs
- Direct and oversee day-to-day activities of multiple site safety coordinators
- Mentor site safety coordinators and ensure resources for responsibilities
- Conduct site orientation for new employees and record participation
- Attend project staff and subcontractor meetings to align roles within the Safety Program
- Lead regular safety meetings and maintain safety logs and reports
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with project requirements
- Perform daily jobsite inspections, pre-shift training, and weekly safety checks
- Record and report violations to direct hire employees or subcontractors for corrective actions
- Assist in establishing safety procedures with Project Superintendent including evacuation and fire control
- Investigate incidents and generate proper reports; maintain safety records
- Contribute to monthly safety overview meetings and support claims management
- Attend Project Staff Meetings to brief on safety issues and project progress
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, science, or related field preferred but not required
- 5+ years in heavy civil construction with on-site safety management experience
- Knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques
- Ability to identify exposures and recommend corrective actions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong management, leadership, and written/verbal communication skills
- Current safety training including OSHA 30-hour in Construction, NYC DOB SST 62-hour, NYC DOB 40-hour Site Safety Manager Course, SSPC/AMPP C-3/C-5, NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector License, MTA NYCT Track Training Certification
