Overview

As Golf Coach you will lead the NCAA Division II program at Kentucky State University, guiding all aspects from coaching to administration. You will recruit student-athletes, oversee academic support, budgeting, and compliance, while shaping a culture of integrity, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence. You will collaborate with Athletics staff and other departments to support student-athlete success and program growth. The role is hands-on with on-campus presence, managing practices, travel, and program operations. Responsibilities
  • Organize and conduct practices, conditioning, and competitions
  • Develop practice plans and game strategies to maximize performance
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes under NCAA/SIAC/University rules
  • Oversee program operations including planning, scheduling, travel, and equipment
  • Promote student-athlete academic success and coordinate with academic support
  • Maintain compliance with NCAA, SIAC, and university policies
  • Manage the golf program budget and stewardship of resources
  • Coordinate team travel, equipment purchases, uniforms, and competition scheduling
  • Supervise assistant coaches, graduate assistants, student workers, and volunteers
  • Represent the program professionally to students, alumni, donors, media, and the public
  • Collaborate with Athletics and University departments to support student-athlete success
  • Engage in fundraising, alumni engagement, and community outreach
  • Maintain records and prepare required reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of golf, coaching, and player development
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II, SIAC, and university rules
  • Knowledge of recruitment and retention strategies in athletics
  • Ability to develop competitive practice plans and game strategies
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel
  • Budget administration and fiscal management knowledge
  • Analytical problem-solving and solution implementation
  • Ability to use technology and software common in collegiate athletics
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and perform duties with/without accommodation
