Overview As an RF Design Engineer for Amazon LEO, you will own the RF performance from ADC to antenna for space and ground segments. You'll design and optimize phased array and aperture antennas, collaborate across RF, systems, software, and calibration teams, and validate concepts from EM models to lab measurements. You'll work on 3GPP-style systems spanning 30 GHz, balancing design, analysis, and hands-on validation in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. This role offers impact in delivering high-performance beams and reliable links for a global broadband initiative.
Responsibilities- Design over-the-air link models and system performance using ITU/3GPP-style analysis
- Optimize antenna/array architectures (elements, lattice, feeding networks, beam-forming) to meet RF goals
- Own end-to-end RF performance from ADC/DAC to antenna radiation in collaboration with RFIC, PA/LNA, and system teams
- Simulate element/array performance and mutual coupling with EM tools (HFSS, CST, AWR)
- Define calibration strategies (array calibration, beam equalization, phase/amplitude error mitigation) and validate on-bench/in-chamber performance
- Define and maintain antenna specs at module, aperture, and system levels
- Support prototype builds, bring-up, and chamber/OTA test campaigns for active antennas
- Provide DFM/DFT feedback for antenna boards, modules, and fixtures
- Prepare design reports and present results to leadership and cross-functional partners
Key requirements- Experience leading design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust)
