Overview In this role you will manage multiple state and local government audits and related attest engagements, driving high-quality results and proactive client service. You will coordinate engagement workflows, budgets, and staffing while mentoring staff and strengthening client relationships. You will partner with partners and directors to address issues, expand scope where appropriate, and support business development. This is a hybrid role with leadership path toward senior leadership, offering meaningful impact within the public sector practice.
Responsibilities- Manage all phases of audits or reviews across multiple engagements
- Maintain ongoing client contact and deep knowledge of client operations and controls
- Escalate developments to Engagement Director/Partner and propose solutions
- Ensure engagements follow firm standards and audit approach
- Create and monitor budgets; explain overruns and identify scope opportunities
- Anticipate issues and prepare responses; oversee staff work and reviews
- Lead, train, and supervise staff and seniors; participate in performance evaluations
- Contribute to firm business development efforts
- Coordinate scheduling and workflow for engagements
- Provide timely status to leadership and facilitate issue resolution
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- At least five years of public accounting experience in the public sector, with state and local government audits
- Current and valid CPA license
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GASB, GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS, and Uniform Guidance
