Overview

In this role you will serve as a Senior Tax Manager at a well-established regional CPA firm, with hybrid work options in LA-area offices. You will lead technical tax reviews, manage complex returns and examinations, and develop staff. You'll own client service relationships and collaborate with partners on practice development. Responsibilities
  • Perform technical tax review and approval of tax returns and examinations of any complexity
  • Serve as subject matter expert in discipline or industry
  • Lead larger tax returns and delegate to tax preparers as needed
  • Own client service responsibility for direct clients or delegated from Partners
  • Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations; represent client before authorities
  • Develop staff through recruiting, evaluations, and training
  • Ensure smooth flow of tax returns through preparation system; ensure timely and accurate delivery
  • Handle billing and collections processes accurately and timely
  • Prepare reports and projects for Partners
  • Research and evaluate tax software for Partners
  • Contribute to practice development through referral sources and industry activities
Key requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current tax laws
  • Proficiency in computer tax preparation, tax research, and tax planning software programs
  • Overtime expected, with heavy overtime Jan-Apr
  • Seven to ten years in public accounting with progression in tax complexity
  • At least two years representing clients before taxing authorities
  • Minimum one year supervising and directing tax preparers
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Master's degree in taxation preferred
  • Forty hours of continuing education per year
  • Current CPA license in good standing
  • Member in good standing with AICPA
  • Leadership and staff development
