Overview In this role you drive client service and engagement quality as a lead Audit Director in a regional CPA firm. You act as a liaison between partners, clients, and staff, guiding multiple governmental audits and related advisory work. You shape staffing, scheduling, and workflow while developing staff and pursuing new business. You'll be a subject-matter expert for the governmental sector and play a pivotal role in client relationships and firm growth.

Responsibilities- Maintain ongoing client contact and deep knowledge of client operations and controls
- Serve as engagement partner or report to the engagement partner per policy
- Sign attestations when acting as engagement partner
- Oversee all phases of engagement reporting and ensure compliance with accounting framework and firm policy
- Inform partner of important developments and address issues with proposed solutions
- Ensure proper engagement scheduling and staffing
- Act as subject-matter expert for governmental sector
- Manage billing and collections per policy
- Supervise and train staff; review work papers and reports
- Contribute to staff performance evaluations and counseling
- Involve in recruitment of Assurance/Advisory candidates
- Represent the firm in business development and network for new opportunities
- Lead initial communications with prospective clients and prepare fee estimates
- Maintain compliance with firm-wide policies
Key requirements- Approximately 10 years in public accounting
- 2 years in a senior manager role
- Significant public sector auditing experience (state/local governments)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Current CPA license
- Ability to travel to client and firm locations
- Proven ability to bring in new business
- Experience auditing under GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS, and Uniform Guidance
