Design Engineer

As a Design Engineer, you will lead electrical panel design for industrial and commercial applications, ensuring safe, code-compliant control panels and accurate drawings. You will collaborate with mechanical, purchasing, manufacturing, and field teams to resolve design-for-manufacture and commissioning issues. The role involves creating layouts, schematics, BOMs, and supporting FAT and field troubleshooting. You will work to improve panel standards and documentation, delivering buildable, reliable products. • Lead end-to-end electrical panel design including enclosure layouts, component placement, wiring, and terminal arrangements
• Create and maintain system schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and circuit detail drawings
• Develop and maintain BOMs, panel cut lists, and procurement packages
• Ensure designs meet NEC and UL standards and prepare documentation for UL listings and shop assembly
• Collaborate with mechanical, purchasing, manufacturing, and field technicians to resolve DFM and DFC issues
• Perform design reviews, tolerance checks, and clash detection for fit, function, and safety
• Support FAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting as required
• Update CAD models and drawings using electrical design tools and implement revisions based on testing/feedback
• Drive continuous improvement in panel standards, documentation practices, and design reuse to reduce cost and cycle time
• Provide technical support to sales and project teams during proposals and execution

• 3+ years of experience in electrical panel design with a portfolio of developed panels and enclosure layouts
• Strong understanding of electrical circuitry, system schematics, and the ability to interpret and produce detailed electrical drawings
• Familiarity with NEC codes and UL standards including NEC Article 409, UL508A and UL891
• Experience with SolidWorks Electrical and/or AutoCAD Electrical for schematic and panel layout creation
