Overview As a Site Safety Manager, you will lead safety on major Veterans Medical Center upgrade projects in Augusta and Atlanta over the next five years, ensuring a safe, compliant work environment. You'll develop site safety plans, train personnel, and drive corrective actions to prevent incidents. You will partner with project teams, subcontractors, and management to foster a strong safety culture and support Ameresco's mission of reliable, sustainable infrastructure. Responsibilities- Prepare Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analysis for projects
- Ensure compliance with Safety Policies and adopted Standards
- Verify PPE meets OSHA/EPA requirements and train employees on use
- Conduct safety audits and follow-up inspections
- Provide safety training for project personnel
- Review Subcontractor safety qualifications and attend Pre-Construction Meetings
- Develop and evaluate Activity Hazard Reviews and AHAs
- Ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA and Ameresco standards; lead investigations
- Develop and implement Corrective Action Plans
- Collaborate with project supervision to implement safety solutions
- Foster and maintain a positive safety culture on site
- Maintain safety certifications as required by contracts
- Conduct quarterly safety meetings for project staff
- Produce safety reports on activities performed
- Lead incident/accident investigations
- Perform other duties as required
Key requirements- Bachelor in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline OR 5 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
- Minimum 5 years of commercial, government, or industrial safety management
- EM-385 Certification
- Current First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety certifications
- Experience developing Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) and AHAs
- Ability to review confidential US security information
- CHST, CSP, ASP, or CSHO or equivalent certifications
- Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, or other DoD construction contracts
- Experience with electronic safety management systems and digital reporting
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel/on-call
