Overview

As a Health Consulting Actuary at Milliman, you lead Employer Health Benefits engagements, guiding plan design, financials, and vendor management for multiemployer markets. You'll manage complex client relationships, drive business development, and contribute to cross-functional teams in a collaborative, hybrid environment. This role focuses on health benefits expertise with potential exposure to public and corporate clients, delivering strategic actuarial guidance and market-facing leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Lead relationships for select health clients and serve as Consulting Actuary for all deliverables
  • Manage complex client projects, providing actuarial guidance on plan design, financials, and vendor management
  • Oversee marketing and vendor searches across coverage lines, especially medical and pharmacy
  • Develop opportunities for sale or cross-sell of consulting services
  • Represent the practice with clients and partners, build internal partnerships, and support marketing presentations
  • Ensure work quality through peer review and adherence to Milliman protocols
Key requirements
  • 20+ years of employer health actuarial experience with 10+ years in consulting
  • Leadership experience comparable to Principal or similar role
  • Proven track record in new business development
  • Experience with multiemployer plans; potential to support public/corporate clients
  • ASA or MAAA designation; Bachelor's degree
  • Health and life insurance license preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare programs, self-insurance and stop-loss concepts
  • Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills
