Overview

As a Resident Project Representative within HDR's Water Group, you will observe water and wastewater construction activities to ensure conformance with contracts while supporting project goals. You'll work under the HDR Project Manager to document site conditions, track progress, and produce reports on schedule, budget, and quality. Your role connects construction teams, owners, and contractors to maintain safety, compliance, and document integrity. This is a hands-on position that shapes critical water infrastructure projects and advancing public health and resilience.

Responsibilities
  • Observe construction activities and ensure contract conformance
  • Maintain daily records of site conditions, events, and communications
  • Photograph construction progress and organize reference photos
  • Prepare reports on contractor progress, quality, schedule, and budget
  • Review contractor pay requests and stored materials
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to evaluate schedules and prepare status reports
  • Attend coordination and progress meetings with Owner and Contractor
  • Understand contracts and codes governing construction; coordinates related tasks
  • Coordinate and potentially supervise materials testing and Special Inspections
  • Read and interpret construction drawings; identify discrepancies or conflicts
Key requirements
  • 5+ years in field observing and documenting construction activities (water/wastewater preferred)
  • Experience as Lead RPR, Lead Inspector, or Construction Superintendent
  • Experience preparing Daily Inspection Reports, Nonconformance Notifications, and other reports
  • Knowledge of scheduling, cost controls, and quality assurance/quality control
  • Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment for multidisciplinary projects
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications and spot discrepancies
  • Willingness to follow HDR and OSHA safety policies; OSHA 10-Hr certification preferred
  • Team-oriented work style
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment or pipeline inspection
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera or similar tools
