Overview

In this role you will analyze mortality, morbidity, and retirement data to forecast risk and liabilities for future benefits. You will apply actuarial principles to support pricing, reserving, and modeling, ensuring profitability and financial strength. You will prepare clear analyses for management, consultants, and regulators, and help improve methodologies. You will mentor junior analysts and work closely with cross-functional teams to drive sound pension risk transfer initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze mortality, sickness, disability, and retirement data to forecast risk and liabilities
  • Apply actuarial principles to prepare analyses in line with CAS standards and practice guidelines
  • Support core actuarial functions (pricing, reserving, modelling) to ensure profitability and financial strength
  • Prepare and present actuarial summaries to Home Office, Field management, other departments, consultants, reinsurers, and regulators
  • Improve processes and documentation for actuarial analyses; ensure timely and accurate outputs
  • Train and mentor less experienced analysts in data sources, spreadsheets, and data usage
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or closely related field
  • 5 years of actuarial analysis experience
  • Passing 4 actuarial examinations
  • Pricing and sensitivity analysis using AXIS
  • Experience in Canadian Pension Risk Transfer market
  • Compute benefits, QDROs, COLAs using Excel
  • Experience interpreting and implementing complex pension plan provisions
