Overview

In this Audit Director role, you lead client engagements in the government sector, guiding audits from planning through reporting. You act as a liaison between partners, clients, and staff, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and compliant billing. You help grow the firm by developing staff, pursuing new business, and maintaining strong client relationships. The position offers a fast track to partnership, a hybrid work setup, and relocation assistance, with a focus on balancing client service and staff development.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain ongoing client contact and understanding of client operations
  • Possess or report to the engagement partner on engagements; sign attest opinions when required
  • Oversee engagement progression and ensure deliverables comply with GAAP and firm policy
  • Identify issues and propose solutions to the engagement partner
  • Schedule engagements and manage staffing and workflow
  • Serve as subject matter expert in government sector
  • Ensure billing and collections per firm policy
  • Supervise and train staff; participate in performance reviews and counseling
  • Recruit staff and assess Assurance/Advisory candidates
  • Lead business development efforts and establish client communications; generate fee estimates
  • Represent the firm in business development and networking activities
  • Maintain compliance with firm-wide policies
Key requirements
  • Approximately 10 years of public accounting experience
  • Minimum 2 years in a senior manager position
  • Significant experience in public sector audits (state and local governments)
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA license (current and valid)
  • Ability to travel to client and office locations
  • Proven ability to bring in new business
  • Experience with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS, and Uniform Guidance
  • Ability to lead, review, and train staff
