Overview

As a Metallurgist at Climax Molybdenum, you will support metallurgical studies, testing, and process design improvements to optimize operations. You'll report findings and guide the site management on applicable regulations and best practices. The role involves evaluating testing equipment, shaping procedures, and coordinating with vendors to ensure quality and compliance. Responsibilities
  • Assist in metallurgical study, development, testing and analyses of designs, processes, or procedures
  • Report on metallurgical or process issues and recommend resolutions to Chief Metallurgist
  • Review and recommend new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols
  • Contribute to the improvement of metallurgical processes
  • Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for services and equipment
  • Provide guidance to site management on applicable programs and regulations
  • Maintain current working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations
  • Perform other duties as required
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related Engineering discipline with 3 years in Metallurgy or related field OR Master's degree with 2 years in Metallurgy or related field
  • Knowledge of principles and methods used in complex metallurgical and processing analyses
  • Ability to research and analyze difficult information and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
