Overview

As a Project Accountant within the Finance and Commercial team, you manage full-cycle project accounting, including payables, receivables, accruals, and month-end close. You prepare monthly financial reports, monitor costs and cash flow, and ensure budget compliance and internal controls. You collaborate with project managers to flag overruns and savings opportunities and support audits and regulatory filings. This role supports large Canadian infrastructure projects and helps underpin financial integrity across the project lifecycle. You will drive accurate reporting and financial efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Execute full-cycle accounting: AR, AP, holdbacks, HST, accruals, month-end and year-end close
  • Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports with accuracy and timeliness
  • Monitor project costs, revenues, and cash flow within budgets
  • Reconcile project accounts including GL, payables, and receivables
  • Collaborate with project managers to identify cost overruns or savings
  • Conduct financial audits and ensure compliance with policies and standards
  • Provide financial analysis including variance and cash flow projections
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators as needed
  • Stay updated on accounting regulations and best practices related to project accounting
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Accounting
  • CPA designation preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, construction industry preferred
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
