Overview

As a Construction Engineering Project Manager at Collins Engineers, you will lead a range of construction engineering initiatives in the Canton, MA office. You'll own project scopes, schedules, and budgets while serving as the primary client contact with contractors and agencies. The role combines technical design, field and office coordination, and safety leadership within a collaborative, growth driven culture. You'll drive project delivery, pursue new ideas, and contribute to the firm's project portfolio and client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Lead planning, analysis, and delivery of construction engineering projects (e.g., temporary work trestle, erection plans, demolition plans, shoring, cribbing, POE, water control)
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, QA/QC, and team coordination
  • Serve as primary client contact for contractors, MassDOT, MBTA, municipalities, and stakeholders
  • Prepare complete engineering plans or reports
  • Utilize CAD/CAE software to produce design documents
  • Involve in proposals, fee development, and client interviews
  • Direct and supervise engineers, drafters, technicians, and staff
  • Ensure safety and provide specialized training on health and safety practices
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and timely completion
  • Attend meetings outside normal hours as needed
  • Contribute to safety and quality in all project activities
  • Support business development and project scoping activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university
  • 10+ years of experience in construction engineering or management
  • PE certification required
  • Knowledge of MassDOT Bridge Manual, AASHTO LRFD, and permitting standards
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, RISA 3D, Shoring Suite, LPile) and CAD tools (Autodesk, Civil 3D, MicroStation)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and business development skills
