Overview In this Studio Engineer role, you translate design concepts into feasible CAD models using CATIA V5/V6 within the Adient PLUS process. You work with Industrial Design and OEM inputs to ensure Class A surfacing aligns with manufacturing and aesthetics goals, guiding the PSDR and kick-off of Class-A work. You collaborate across disciplines to deliver feasible prototypes and design data for phase 0-2 initiatives. This position blends hands-on prototyping with rigorous design review and cross-functional coordination.
Responsibilities- Create CAD data representing new Adient process/product for Phase 0
- Assess feasibility to support functionality and prototypes (e.g., SLA vs. fiberglass)
- Hands-on work with prototype parts and demonstrators
- Coordinate targets with CS, Trim, Foam, S&M, SMEs, Automation
- Gather OEM data and verify EBOM scope with SDT issues
- Develop craftsmanship/packaging criteria in Layout Drawings
- Invite SDT to PSDR and determine if Class A surfacing can begin
- Share PSDR with Studio Engineering Lead to start Class-A surfacing
Key requirements- Proficient in Adient-approved CAD/PC systems (CATIA V5/V6)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to create feasibility sections with minimal input (experience a plus)
- Automotive design experience
- Understanding of EBOM/QBOM processes
- Familiarity with PSDR process
- Experience with prototype parts and manufacturing considerations
