Engineer I/II - Business Development

Overview

In this role you will lead high level engineering for new and existing distribution systems, designing large business development projects and coordinating resources to meet goals. You'll work with sales, planning and operations to scope, design, budget and implement gas facilities, ensuring code compliance and efficient delivery. The position offers hybrid work in Middletown, PA with opportunities across Lancaster and Reading, and emphasizes safety, collaboration and impact on customers and communities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, design and estimate natural gas mains, services, meters and regulators to company specs for complex projects
  • Coordinate with area sales, planning, Operations, and external partners to align workload, procurement and permits
  • Prepare bid documents, obtain permits, and minimize conflicts with municipalities and state agencies
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing on scoping, delivery and evaluation of large projects
  • Contribute to annual Capital Construction Budget and manage allocated expenditures for design work
  • Participate in special projects and cross department initiatives
  • Engage in Engineer On Call rotations when qualified
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 4 years (Engineer III) or 5 years (Sr Engineer) of related engineering experience
  • EIT preferred; PE license/ability to obtain in future preferred
  • Knowledge of federal/state/local codes (DOT, PA PUC, MD PSC)
  • Experience with cost estimation for natural gas facilities and use of work order systems and SAP
  • Strong PC skills and knowledge of UGI policies, tariff, and contracting processes
  • Ability to manage projects, budgets and coordination across teams
  • Right-of-Way, permitting and environmental considerations
