Overview In this role you will install, repair and test wet and dry utility pipe within highway construction projects. You'll work closely with a crew to move, align, connect and backfill pipe, ensuring joints seal and systems pass pressure tests. You'll operate and coordinate equipment safely around active traffic and contribute to pre-task planning and site housekeeping. This is a hands-on role that emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliable execution at scale.
Responsibilities- Cut pipes to required lengths using demo saw and power tools
- Install and repair sanitary and storm water sewer pipe systems
- Move pipes into trenches and lay them in the trench, assist backfill
- Assemble and seal pipe joints, ensure proper connections
- Pass pipe assemblies through pressure tests
- Monitor safety and productivity with the crew
- Perform pre-task planning tasks
- Operate and maintain equipment in a pipe crew environment
- Coordinate machine actions with hand/audio signals
- Maintain equipment, report usage hours, and perform general housekeeping
Key requirements- At least 2 years of experience laying pipe in highway construction
- High level of physical fitness
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work in multiple locations and shifts
- Strong coordination, balance, depth perception and eye-hand coordination
- Ability to work night shifts if required
