Overview In this role you will drive technical accounting analysis and policy in a leading packaging company. You'll partner with business leaders to interpret US GAAP and SEC requirements, and guide policy across the organization. You'll manage impairment analyses, acquisitions-related accounting, and external reporting, influencing governance and compliance. Responsibilities- Identify and assess technical accounting issues in complex transactions and prepare memorandums
- Collaborate with business leaders to provide accounting guidance
- Maintain and refine the Company's written accounting policies and guidance
- Monitor changes in accounting standards, SEC guidance, and PCAOB regulations
- Lead impact analysis and implementation of new accounting pronouncements
- Research and resolve technical issues with external auditors
- Support external reporting to ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements and disclosures
- Assist with internal and external audits and information requests
- Support pre- and post-close deal activities (acquisitions/dispositions) with Corporate Development and external consultants on purchase price accounting
- Lead annual impairment analyses for assets (goodwill, PP&E, leases, intangibles, JVs, cost method investments)
- Organize enterprise-wide quarterly trainings on US GAAP, internal controls, and SEC matters
- Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements- 9-12+ years of experience, including 4-6 years in public accounting
- CPA required; Big 4 experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP technical accounting areas
- Effective communication, planning, and leadership skills
