Overview As Employment Counsel for Airwallex in the Americas, you will lead US employment law and coordinate multi-jurisdiction advice, shaping playbooks for a scaling employment function. You advise on the full employee lifecycle, conduct workplace investigations, and manage disputes while partnering with People & Talent and external counsel. This role sits at the crossroads of regulatory discipline and rapid growth, helping Airwallex expand its global footprint responsibly. You will influence policy, governance, and cross-border practices in a fintech, highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities- Advise on hiring, contracts, performance, leaves, wage/hour compliance, and terminations across the employee lifecycle.
- Lead workplace investigations and sensitive employee matters end-to-end with cross-functional teams.
- Draft, refresh, and own employment-related policies and templates.
- Manage disputes, agency charges, and litigation, directing external counsel and legal spend.
- Coordinate multi-jurisdiction employment advice across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas, including contractor/EORE arrangements and cross-border mobility risks.
- Advise on compensation, benefits, and equity in a private company context.
Key requirements- J.D. degree and active US state bar membership (California, Washington, or New York preferred)
- 5+ years of employment law experience in a top law firm and/or in-house, with counseling experience beyond litigation
- Experience coordinating multi-jurisdiction employment advice
- Experience leading workplace investigations and managing disputes or tribunal matters
- Ability to translate complex legal risk into clear guidance for non-legal audiences
