Overview In this role you lead the design and delivery of enterprise AI solutions for oil, gas, and chemical customers, owning the full engagement from problem definition to production. You serve as the primary domain expert and solution leader, coordinating cross functional teams to achieve measurable business outcomes. You translate engineering challenges into AI and optimization problems, driving adoption and scale across assets and facilities. Responsibilities- Own the solution strategy, technical direction, and delivery outcomes for assigned engagements from problem definition to deployment and scale
- Serve as the primary customer facing domain expert, understanding operations, equipment, processes, constraints, and business objectives
- Identify and quantify high impact opportunities across reliability, maintenance, production performance, process optimization, throughput, yield, quality, and energy efficiency
- Translate complex engineering problems into AI/ML/optimization/ software requirements with clear success criteria
- Lead engagements through use case definition, requirements gathering, architecture, configuration, validation, deployment, adoption, and scale
- Apply engineering and industry expertise to challenge assumptions and ensure credibility of recommendations
- Lead cross functional teams (Forward Deployed Engineers, data scientists, product managers, engineers, industry experts) toward customer outcomes
- Collaborate with customer engineers, operators, reliability and maintenance teams, and executives to validate requirements and impact
- Interpret industrial data (signals, states, history, alarms, quality, etc.) to solve problems
- Maintain accountability for solution quality, business value, risks, progress, adoption, and executive communication
- Partner with product management and engineering to identify reusable capabilities and scale solutions across assets and facilities
- Support sales in opportunity assessment, problem framing, value articulation, requirements, deployment strategy, and demonstrations
- Contribute to SOWs and deployment plans with defined scope, data needs, risks, and timelines
- Develop repeatable industry methodologies and best practices, and represent C3 AI in forums
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- 7+ years in engineering, manufacturing, operations, reliability, maintenance, industrial technology, or consulting
- Deep experience in asset intensive industries (oil & gas, chemicals, etc.)
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills; ability to structure ambiguous problems
- Experience translating domain requirements into technical solutions
- Proven track record leading complex, customer facing engagements with engineers, operators, and executives
- Excellent presentation, written communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed
