Dallas, Texas

Job description

Overview

PhD-level researchers at Qorvo will lead advanced MMIC design work for defense, satellite, and next-gen wireless systems. You will blend theory with hands-on fabrication access, guiding architecture and integration of GaN/GaAs (and advanced silicon) circuits. The role emphasizes publishing, presenting, and shaping novel RF/Microwave technologies in a collaborative environment. You'll drive high-impact prototypes, technology roadmaps, and cross-functional collaboration to push the boundaries of MMIC performance.

Compensation / Benefits
  • Relocation eligible
  • Competitive base salary (location dependent)
  • Total Rewards package information available on request
  • Opportunities to publish and present
  • Access to state-of-the-art microwave labs
  • Global team collaboration
Responsibilities
  • Technical lead for MMIC architecture and design research
  • Lead MMIC-based product development creating GaN/GaAs circuits (plus advanced silicon)
  • Design, simulate, layout, and characterize MMICs (PAs, LNAs, phase shifters, switches, attenuators, multifunction circuits, integration with BAW/SAW)
  • Perform nonlinear modeling, 2.5D/3D EM co-simulation, and circuit optimization using ADS, HFSS, Cadence
  • Build and validate prototypes in state-of-the-art microwave labs (S-parameter, noise, load-pull, thermal)
  • Analyze data and present results to internal/external customers
  • Contribute to technology road-mapping, novel circuit architectures, and heterogeneous integration
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams
  • Publish design work internally or externally; submit invention disclosures for potential patents
Key requirements
  • Recent experience designing III-V microwave/mmWave RF/MMIC amplifiers, switches, phase shifters, attenuators, TDUs, multichip modules, or FEMs
  • Experience with GaN, GaAs, RF silicon processes
  • Expert-level understanding of transistor device behavior
  • Expert-level use of ADS or Microwave Office; proficiency with 2.5D/3D EM tools (SONNET, Axiem, Momentum, HFSS)
  • Strong microwave measurement and calibration knowledge (S-parameters, power, efficiency, source/load pull, noise figure, linearity, IMD)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and mentoring abilities
  • Ability to concisely summarize complex concepts
  • Customer-focused delivery and meeting schedules
  • GaN/GaAs MMIC design (PAs, LNAs, phase shifters, switches, TDUs, FEMs)
