Overview In this role, you lead the perioperative enterprise at UM Health-Sparrow Lansing, directing operations across 22 ORs and related services. You partner with surgeons, anesthesia leadership, nursing, and executives to elevate quality, efficiency, and patient experience while driving surgical growth. The position sits within a nationally recognized academic health system, offering strategic influence and local autonomy. You will shape the future of perioperative care amid ambulatory expansion and physician collaborations.
Responsibilities- Oversee the perioperative enterprise across 22 operating rooms, ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, PACU, outpatient surgery, and sterile processing
- Partner with surgeons, anesthesia leaders, nursing leadership, and executive stakeholders to advance quality and operational performance
- Lead growth initiatives and improve patient experience within the perioperative space
- Drive workforce engagement, quality improvement, and strategic growth aligned with departmental and organizational goals
- Support expansion of ambulatory surgery capabilities and futureperative care initiatives
- Maintain accountability to the Chief Medical Officer as a senior nursing leader with cross-functional influence
Key requirements- Current RN license
- Minimum 8 years clinical experience with at least 5 years of leadership experience in a large healthcare system with multiple locations and specialties
- Involvement in developing and implementing clinical service plans for surgical patients (Surgery, Post-Anesthesia, Outpatient Surgery and/or short stay units)
- Bachelor's degree and Master's degree (one in Nursing)
