Sales Team Lead - State and Local Government

Overview

In this role, you guide a high-performing team to accelerate GIS adoption across state and local government accounts. You'll align sales strategy with Esri's mission, mentor team members, and cultivate opportunities with executive stakeholders. You'll lead complex engagements, shape growth, and deliver compelling geospatial solutions through ArcGIS. This position offers impact across large organizations, cross-functional collaboration, and opportunities to influence public-sector GIS transformation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all stages of the account management process for the team
  • Mentor and coach team members with clear direction and regular feedback
  • Build a virtual team to support sales objectives and drive results
  • Develop location strategies for large, complex public sector accounts
  • Create and lead opportunities within high-level lines of business
  • Represent Esri at trade shows, workshops, and seminars
  • Articulate the value of Esri technology to executive stakeholders
  • Plan and negotiate with customers to close opportunities
  • Deliver sales cycle execution to meet sector goals
  • Support visual storytelling and presentations for client engagements
Key requirements
  • 8+ years of enterprise sales and/or relevant consulting or program management experience
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring, motivating, and coaching on a team
  • Ability to build compelling account growth strategies
  • Advanced knowledge of State and Local Government and technology trends
  • Deep understanding of GIS and Esri technology
  • Expert visual storyteller and negotiator across all organizational levels
  • Knowledge of fiscal year budgeting and procurement cycles
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 50%
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, business administration, or a related field
