Overview As Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor, you will lead cost control for a hyperscale data center project in Reno, NV, interfacing with clients and design teams to maintain commercial discipline. You'll develop cost plans, manage change, and drive value through procurement and VE sessions. Responsibilities- Estimate and negotiate changes throughout the construction lifecycle
- Produce and present final cost plans and cost reports
- Collaborate with design teams and general contractors on cost estimates
- Reconcile changes and support contractors for data accuracy
- Interface with contractors and client/project managers for status updates
- Coordinate cost information from suppliers, subcontractors, and design teams
- Inform engineering decisions based on cost impact
- Proactively resolve cost and scheduling issues with minimal supervision
- Manage cost checks and valuations for large-scale construction activities
- Participate in post-contract cost variance analysis and change control processes
- Manage cost impact assessments, contingency tracking, and commitment tracking logs
- Prepare funding data presentations and coordinate VE sessions
- Develop cost plans through design phase and provide milestone updates
- Provide commercial input into design optioneering and value engineering
- Review contractor pricing and lead negotiations for fair contracts
- Perform quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout project lifecycle
- Ensure post-contract variances and change control are managed effectively
- Ensure cost auditing and valuation procedures have validation
- Produce monthly cost reports for client presentation
- Negotiate and finalize final accounts in a timely manner
- Compile cost benchmarking data and maintain project cost records
- Identify, coach, and mentor team members
- Demonstrate leadership and service delivery aligned with commission requirements
- Manage financial performance using internal systems (margin tracking, forecasting, reporting)
- Implement and maintain Business Management Systems and delivery methodologies
- Promote a collaborative and high-performing team culture

Key requirements- 5-7+ years in construction cost management
- Experience on medium to large-scale complex projects (data centers, industrial, or mission-critical)
- Construction consultancy experience preferred
- RICS accreditation preferred or working toward it
- Strong understanding of procurement strategies, value management, and cost control
