Overview In this role you oversee safety, compliance, and qualification for helicopter and/or fixed-wing pilots during evaluations. You conduct training and flight checks in classrooms, aircraft, or simulators, ensuring adherence to training standards and procedures. You'll develop and implement flight and ground training schedules and support pilot record-keeping in line with FARs. This position emphasizes hands-on evaluation, corrective action, and collaboration with flight staff to maintain high safety and operational standards. You will work across training devices, check flights, and program development, enabling pilots to meet full performance requirements and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities- Evaluate safety, flight operations, maintenance, and procedures per General Operations Manual
- Conduct initial and recurrent ground and flight training
- Coordinate ROC and transition training (ground and flight)
- Develop and implement training schedules
- Ensure adherence to standardized training and checking procedures
- Assist in pilot record keeping per FARs and policies
- Submit required reports timely
- Operate advanced aviation training devices and full motion simulators as needed
- Contribute to development of aircraft checklists and pilot training programs
- Assist in developing indoctrination, instrument, and NVG training (ground/flight)
- Other duties as assigned
Key requirements- High school diploma or GED; 3-5 years related experience or training; or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Recommendation from current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman preferred
- Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience
- ATP rating in aircraft category preferred
- Commercial/Instrument rating required
- Must meet total flight hour requirements
- CFI / CFII (Rotor wing) or willingness to obtain within one year
- DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing compliance
