Overview

As Senior Accountant at Nautilus, you will own the monthly close, manage accruals and prepaids, and supervise accounts payable in a fast-growing biotech environment. You will strengthen internal controls under SOX 404 and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including offshore partners, to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. This role supports scaling from pre-commercial to commercial operations and partners with FP&A on close inputs. You will drive process improvements and system enhancements to sustain robust financial integrity and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Execute the monthly close process with journal entries for accruals and prepaids, ensuring accuracy and timely posting
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations; investigate reconciling items promptly
  • Maintain SOX 404 controls; develop narratives, risk control matrices, and supporting docs
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve close efficiency and strengthen controls
  • Collaborate with FP&A and cross-functional teams on accrual estimates and amortization schedules
  • Support work papers for quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Assist with accounting policy implementations and system improvements as the company scales
  • Participate in or lead ad-hoc accounting projects as needed
Key requirements
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with GL, month-end close, and accounts payable
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • Solid US GAAP knowledge including accrual and prepaid accounting
  • SOX-compliant environment experience with controls documentation and testing
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems (NetSuite a plus)
  • Strong analytical skills and Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Index/Match, pivots)
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-growth setting
  • Excellent communication and collaborative, cross-functional working style; comfortable with offshore relationships
