Overview

As Conflicts Attorney, you evaluate and resolve conflicts of interest for new business intake, openings, updates, and onboarding. You advise leadership on risk and ethics, ensure compliance with professional rules, and support matter-opening workflows. You draft waivers and ethical screens, review Outside Counsel Guidelines, and maintain high-quality conflicts data. You partner with cross-functional teams to clear conflicts and implement resolution strategies, contributing to a standards-driven, client-focused firm culture.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and analyze actual and potential conflicts for clients and prospects using internal systems and external databases
  • Recommend and implement conflict-resolution strategies including ethical walls, disclosures, and engagement modifications
  • Draft and maintain conflict waivers, disclosures, engagement letter language, and supporting documentation
  • Review Outside Counsel Guidelines and engagement letters for conflicts provisions; advise on screens and data updates
  • Conduct conflicts analyses for lateral attorney candidates and coordinate with Division Managers and Ethics Committee to clear conflicts
  • Educate attorneys and staff on ethical obligations, conflicts procedures, and client-relations considerations
  • Support matter-opening workflows and maintain high-quality conflicts data and processes
Key requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active bar status in NY
  • Minimum 3 years of conflicts or professional responsibility experience in a mid-to-large law firm
  • Minimum 2 years of private practice experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with conflicts/new-business intake systems
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to present nuanced analyses to leadership
  • Strong negotiation and consultative skills
  • High discretion and diplomacy with sensitive information
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
