Overview As Tax Compliance Senior Manager at Global Medical Response, you lead income tax compliance, planning, and related processes in a healthcare-focused environment. You'll oversee a tax team, collaborate with internal stakeholders and external authorities, and drive efficiency through process improvements. You'll stay ahead of tax developments and manage complex reporting, including foreign and multi-state obligations. This role offers impact by shaping tax strategy in a mission-driven company.
Responsibilities- Supervise staff in preparing income tax returns and ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state/local, and international rules
- Review federal consolidated return and supporting statements; manage federal e-file process
- Oversee fixed asset depreciation analyses and related tax provision workflows
- Develop workpapers supporting income tax returns and streamline tax processes
- Maintain tax systems documentation and training materials; mentor staff
- Manage estimated tax calculations and payments; assist with tax research and planning initiatives
- Advise management on new tax developments, risks, and opportunities
- Assist with foreign tax reporting in federal returns (forms 5471, 1118; FDII/NTCI) and Subpart F
- Assist with R&D tax credits calculations; support ASC 740 provision process
- Respond to federal/state/local tax notices and audits; assist in M&A tax due diligence and integration
- Keep current on tax law changes and assess impact; support tax planning/forecasting
- Supervise staff for income tax SOX 404 controls; foster team development and training
- Engage with external tax authorities, auditors, and law firms; build cross-department relationships
- Enhance technical knowledge through seminars and professional publications
Key requirements- BS/BA in Accounting
- 10+ years in tax (public accounting and/or large industry)
- Experience in U.S. federal and multi-state corporate tax compliance
- Experience with foreign tax reporting in U.S. federal returns
- Corptax tax software experience; healthcare industry experience a plus
- Strong GAAP knowledge; tax law proficiency; ability to implement changes
- Proven leadership and cross-department relationship skills
- Excellent communication and project management abilities
- CPA license preferred; Master in taxation desirable but not required
- Experience with tax research tools (e.g., Thomson Reuters CheckPoint, CCH, Bloomberg BNA, LexisNexis, Westlaw) and MS Office
