Overview In this HR Director role, you provide strategic and operational HR leadership across multiple Nexstar locations to drive people initiatives that support the business. You serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping policies, performance management, and labor relations for a diverse workforce of about 1,800. Based in Irving or any Nexstar market with a live newsroom, you lead high-impact initiatives in a fast-paced environment. You will partner with business units to align people strategy with Nexstar's mission and growth.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic HR leadership across multiple work locations, aligning people strategies with business objectives
- Lead strategic HR planning, coaching, employee development, compliance, and performance management for represented and non-represented workforce
- Serve as trusted advisor and coach to senior leaders and management teams
- Interpret and ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures to support company mission and values
- Partner with Labor & Employment Counsel to resolve employee relations and labor relations issues, including investigations and grievances
- Identify training needs and develop/deliver training plans for leaders and employees
- Manage HR workflows, regional HR operations, and cross-functional strategic projects
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in HR, industrial relations, business administration or related field; or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience in leadership roles across multiple locations
- Experience supporting managers in complex, fast-paced organizations
- Strong relationship-building and collaborative skills with client management
- Excellent communication and formal presentation skills
- Experience in a union environment a plus
- Ability to research, summarize, and articulate recommendations
- Strong organization, facilitation, and creative problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and business practices
- Background check and US work authorization required
- Previous TV or entertainment industry experience a plus
