Overview

As Assurance Manager, you will supervise and guide audit engagements from planning to wrap-up, ensuring quality and on-time delivery. You'll lead client communications, manage engagement profitability, and contribute to business development within your specialty. You will advise on regulatory risks, address complex accounting issues, and document GAAP/GAAS applications and internal control evaluations. This role sits at the intersection of technical excellence and client relationship leadership, offering a meaningful impact on client outcomes and firm growth.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise audit teams and review work on-site; provide on-the-job coaching
  • Assess and validate internal controls over financial reporting; recommend improvements
  • Manage engagement profitability including billings and collections
  • Draft and review GAAP/GAAS analyses and memos; consult with technical experts as needed
  • Oversee SEC/PCAOB-related tasks; ensure accuracy of MD&A and disclosures
  • Ensure adherence to GAAS, professional standards, and independence requirements
  • Apply BDO methodology; plan audits with quality and efficiency under deadlines
  • Support client acceptance/retention procedures and communicate with management/audit committees
  • Mentor Associates and Senior Associates; schedule workloads and provide feedback
  • Lead or support the client's regulatory and financial reporting requirements (SOX 404)
  • Coordinate research and memo preparation; present issues to RTD or reviewers
  • Engage in business development and client relationship-building
Key requirements
  • Five or more years of audit experience or equivalent in public accounting, industry, or consulting
  • Active licensed US CPA or recognized international equivalent; and ability to obtain US CPA if required
  • Bachelor degree (major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with assurance applications and research tools preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication; proven people development and delegation skills
  • Ability to resolve complex accounting issues and manage engagement profitability
