NDT Physicist

Overview

In this role you develop ultrasonic and electromagnetic inspection systems for tubular goods, shaping NDE capabilities. You work with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust testing solutions. You solve field inspection challenges and communicate technical findings to stakeholders. You support operations with inspection planning and address customer inquiries, driving practical, hands-on impact. This role offers the chance to advance NDE methods at scale and influence product reliability and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Develop ultrasonic and electromagnetic inspection systems for tubular goods
  • Design and implement new NDT procedures and methodologies
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers on design, manufacturing, and testing
  • Investigate and resolve inspection challenges in the field
  • Communicate technical findings through reports and presentations
  • Support Operations with ultrasonic scan plans and address customer inquiries and issues
Key requirements
  • 5-10 years of relevant industrial UT NDT experience
  • Bachelor in Physics, Engineering, or Mathematics (with ultrasound/NDT specialization) or related field
  • Experience with phased array UT testing and/or electromagnetic inspection methods (e.g., MFL, eddy current) preferred
  • Experience in design/development of NDE systems and testing of NDE components
  • Analytical and experimental research ability
  • Proficiency in programming on PC (Windows/Linux): C, C++, C#, Python, or JavaScript desirable
  • Familiarity with data acquisition, signal & image processing, electronics, ultrasonic probes, instrumentation
  • Knowledge of finite element methods for ultrasound or electromagnetism
  • Knowledge of computer vision or vision-language models for NDT or automation
  • Knowledge of API/ASTM standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills and practical methodologies
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Excellent communication and ability to work independently or collaboratively
  • Self-motivated, innovative, capable of independent multidisciplinary research
