Attorney Advisor Unit Supervisor

In this role you oversee the Attorney Advisor Unit within the Investigations Division, guiding legal analyses, dispositions, and investigations while aligning with agency goals to enforce anti-discrimination laws. You work closely with senior leadership to shape policies, oversee day-to-day operations, and mentor staff. You will resolve complex legal issues, review work products for accuracy, and drive process improvements that support fair and effective investigations. • Supervise, plan, review, and evaluate Attorney Advisor work and performance
• Provide on-the-job training and onboarding for Attorney Advisors
• Oversee investigations, dispositions, motions, and appeals for compliance with laws and policies
• Review legal work, including orders, subpoenas, and memoranda
• Advise on legal matters by interpreting laws and regulations
• Develop policies and procedures for division operations
• Coordinate with Chief/Deputy Chief and investigators to monitor investigations
• Respond to inquiries from public, parties, and attorneys about policies and laws
• Conduct legal research and writing; resolve legal issues and jurisdictional questions
• Mentor and train staff; participate in recruitment and staffing decisions
• Identify novel legal issues for policy considerations and refer to General Counsel/Chief Investigations for Full Commission review
• Support day-to-day operations and provide backup for Attorney Advisors Unit
• Participate in training seminars and speaking engagements
• Keep leadership informed about unit activity and personnel matters
• Recognize individual achievements of unit members
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree
• Admittance to the Massachusetts Bar
• At least three years of professional legal experience
• Ability to travel for job-related purposes
• Current valid driver's license (if assigned)
