Senior MEP Estimator

Overview

In this role you drive MEP preconstruction estimating for vertical projects, partnering with design and trade teams to shape win strategies. You will lead quantity take-offs, bid development, and subcontractor coordination, aligning with the firm's preconstruction goals. You'll engage with clients and design meetings to influence design-build decisions, delivering thorough estimates and compelling proposals. A relocation package supports candidates outside McCarthy office areas, reflecting the company's growth mindset and collaborative culture.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, maintain and review bid documents; submit estimates on time
  • Produce accurate quantity take-offs to build estimates
  • Support execution plans and win strategies
  • Create thorough, well-annotated estimates and comprehensive proposals
  • Solicit and manage subcontractors and vendors during preconstruction
  • Participate in peer bid and contract reviews for compliance
  • Update bid status weekly at estimating meetings
  • Assist project managers with clarification on the estimate
  • Cultivate client relationships and assist Business Development in new opportunities
  • Join design meetings and provide input for Design-Assist/Design-Build
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management or minimum 5 years in estimating/design management/field management
  • Experience in Mechanical (HVAC/Plumbing) and/or Electrical preconstruction with a MEP or GC
  • In-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices
  • Proven experience estimating mechanical systems and complex electrical/low voltage systems
  • Experience with MS Excel, On-Screen Take-Off, Bluebeam Studio, Accubid, Revizto, WinEst (preferred)
  • Experience handling subcontracts and subcontractors or self-perform work
  • Self-starter with ability to build trust and influence others
  • Strong communication skills across varied audiences
  • Ability to perform mechanical quantity take-offs from OPRs, BODs, SLDs and architectural plans
