Overview

In this onsite HR Business Partner role, you'll partner with cross-functional teams to drive organizational effectiveness and align people strategy with business goals at a new site. You'll support leadership development, talent reviews, onboarding, and change initiatives while ensuring compliant labor relations in a unionized environment. The role blends strategic advisory with hands-on HR operations to enable high-performance teams and successful site mobilization in a globally connected rail business.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze organizational capabilities to support business strategy and close capability gaps
  • Support change programs and foster a high-performance culture, including bids and projects
  • Coach leaders on talent tools, support talent reviews, and mobilize high-potential talent
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning
  • Lead site mobilization efforts, coordinating onboarding for a new contract/customer
  • Administer FLSA testing and ensure job descriptions are aligned with positions
  • Partner with leaders to drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement
  • Support leadership development to build resilient, adaptable teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align HR with strategic objectives
  • Provide guidance on employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Provide guidance for operating in a unionized environment to ensure CBA compliance
Key requirements
  • Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, Psychology, or other relevant field
  • Experience with complex employee relations issues and labor relations, including grievance handling with unions
  • Knowledge of HR strategies, people management, and unionized environments
  • Familiarity with employment laws (including FLSA, FMLA, ADAAA) and Railway Labor Act (asset)
  • HR professional certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
  • Strong English communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Ability to assess organizational capabilities and identify gaps to support business strategy
  • Coaching leaders, talent reviews, and succession planning experience
  • Experience in leadership development and fostering high-performance cultures
  • Knowledge and experience operating in a unionized environment with CBA compliance
