Overview

In this role you guide and implement strategic and tactical HR initiatives to support business objectives in a highly matrixed, geographically distributed environment. You align HR practices with business units, provide coaching and consultation on organizational design, change management, recruitment, performance and development, succession planning, and policy interpretation. You partner with senior stakeholders and Corporate HR to enable compliant, effective people programs. You drive leadership development and onboarding improvements while shaping a data-informed approach to people decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Define leadership development needs and create solutions to boost manager capability
  • Monitor effectiveness of recruitment and retention programs
  • Ensure proper job definitions and competitive pay grades
  • Improve new hire processes and onboarding; possibly partner on onboarding
  • Interpret, understand, and apply HR policies across the organization
  • Coach on performance management, PIP, discipline, and development plans
  • Advise managers on local, state, and federal laws and public policies
  • Lead succession planning to ensure future leadership needs are met
  • Collaborate with Corporate HR to deliver services
  • Analyze employee data for decision-making (staffing, turnover, recruitment, compensation, promotions)
  • Investigate and resolve employee relations issues; participate in claims hearings as needed
  • Perform other duties; may focus on one or more departments or locations
  • Travel up to 30%

Key requirements
  • Minimum 8-12 years of related experience; or a Master's degree with 6 years; or a PhD with 3 years; or equivalent directly related work experience
  • SHRM Certification (SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP) desirable
  • Ability to manage one or more departments
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of business basics
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Strong problem analysis and solution development skills
  • Keeping current with employment trends, labor law, and HR best practices
