Overview

As a Developer, Gas Generation at AES Renewables & Power, you drive the development of natural gas generation projects to support integrated energy solutions for large commercial and industrial customers. You work across engineering, development, finance, legal, construction, and commercial teams to move projects from concept to construction. You will manage feasibility, schedules, budgets, and regulatory interfaces, delivering safe, efficient implementations. This role offers tangible impact on energy access and the transition to cleaner power.

Responsibilities
  • Lead gas generation project development from site identification through construction support
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Data Center Development, Renewable Generation Development, Solutions Engineering and other internal teams to deliver integrated Powered Land Solutions
  • Evaluate feasibility by coordinating siting, fuel supply, interconnection, infrastructure, and permitting
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, financial models, and development risk registers
  • Coordinate pipeline identification, utility engagement, and fuel supply strategy while supporting commercial negotiations
  • Engage with stakeholders including engineers, permitting agencies, landowners, utilities, customers, and contractors to advance milestones
  • Support discretionary permitting, public meetings, regulatory engagement, and environmental diligence
  • Coordinate engineering, site due diligence, land activities, and infrastructure planning to keep on schedule
  • Manage contracts and ensure compliance with site control, fuel supply, and commercial contracts
  • Identify project risks and communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders
  • Support project financing due diligence and accurate documentation in AES systems
  • Lead project handoffs to Construction after milestones, representing AES professionally
Key requirements
  • Demonstrated experience developing at least 500MW of natural gas generation projects
  • Bachelor in Engineering (or related field)
  • Knowledge of project development, permitting, utility coordination, interconnection, pipeline infrastructure, and commercial contracting
  • Experience with fuel supply strategies, utilities, pipeline operators, or integrated energy infrastructure
  • Familiarity with gas generation technologies
  • Ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams
  • Experience supporting data centers, large-load customers, powered land projects (preferred)
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to communicate with diverse audiences
