Overview

You will provide strategic legal counsel on employment, benefits, payroll, and immigration while guiding anti-discrimination matters and ethics initiatives. As a senior legal advisor to HR, leadership, and business units, you shape policies, negotiations, and risk management to align legal strategy with NGS's mission. You lead ethical investigations and oversee the ethics program, fostering compliance and integrity across the organization. This role offers influence across the business, with a focus on people, policy, and principled decision making.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance on local and federal employment and anti-discrimination laws and related benefits matters
  • Draft, negotiate, and review employment, severance, staffing, and independent contractor agreements
  • Manage outside counsel on benefits and international employment issues
  • Oversee employment-related claims, ADR processes, and responses to EEOC and agency charges
  • Lead internal investigations of ethical complaints and manage related investigations
  • Develop, train, and enforce the Code of Ethics; educate managers and staff on ethics programs
  • Interfacing with Senior Leadership, HR, and staff to support business strategy
  • Monitor legislation and case law developments relevant to employment and immigration
Key requirements
  • JD and license to practice law in DC
  • 12+ years of law firm or in-house employment law experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment and anti-discrimination laws (e.g., Titles II & VII, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, USERRA)
  • Experience with internal investigations and responding to discrimination claims
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders
  • Experience managing outside counsel and investigations
