Overview As a Genomics Staff Scientist, you will own the onsite NGS operations and drive end-to-end sequencing workflows. You will lead a small team, coordinating cross-functional efforts with bioinformatics and assay development to deliver high-quality data for discovery projects. You will shape NGS strategies across Illumina and Oxford Nanopore platforms, tackling complex optimization and technology evaluation. Responsibilities- Own end-to-end NGS operations and ensure high-quality data for internal stakeholders
- Lead the NGS team in developing workflows for Illumina and Oxford Nanopore平台
- Design multi-platform sequencing strategies for whole-genome, targeted amplicon, RNA-seq, and single-cell applications
- Troubleshoot library prep, run quality, and instrument issues; document root cause analyses and corrective actions
- Serve as primary technical liaison with bioinformatics for data formats, QC thresholds, and data handoff standards
- Author and maintain SOPs, technical reports, and experimental summaries for a regulated R&D environment
- Evaluate emerging NGS technologies and reagent kits; build internal validation frameworks
- Mentor scientists and research associates to foster technical excellence and continuous learning
- Present data and strategies to project teams and leadership; ensure safety and compliance
Key requirements- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genomics, or related field with 5-7 years of industry NGS experience
- Hands-on proficiency with Illumina (NovaSeq, NextSeq, MiSeq) and Oxford Nanopore instruments
- Experience with diverse library types: WGS, targeted amplicon, RNA-seq, single-cell, low-input protocols
- Upstream QC tools (FastQC, MultiQC); ability to interpret bioinformatics outputs for experiments
- Track record in cross-functional collaboration and effective communication
- Experience with PCR-based assay development and single-cell sequencing; veterinary or diagnostic genomics knowledge preferred
