Overview In this Senior MSL role, you will act as the primary scientific resource for obesity-related therapeutic areas and engage with Opinion Leaders, PHDMs, and healthcare providers to advance Amgen's medical strategy. You will support the obesity pipeline through scientific exchanges, investigator engagement, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The position is field-based within the U.S. Medical team, reporting to the Obesity MSL Lead, covering South Texas. You'll drive data-driven conversations, contribute to sponsored and non-sponsored research, and influence strategy with field insights. Responsibilities- Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions with obesity-related OLs, HCPs, and PHDMs to advance Amgen's goals
- Engage with clinical investigators and sites to support the obesity pipeline
- Communicate scientific and economic data to PHDMs within IDNs and other institutions
- Connect internal and external stakeholders to extend Amgen's reach for patients
- Provide in-depth scientific exchanges aligned with MSL compliance
- Support Amgen-sponsored research and possibly lead studies
- Liaise with investigators in non-sponsored research
- Share field observations to inform Amgen strategies
- Lead or participate in congress activities aligned with strategy
- Support speaker training and keep speakers updated on new data
- Lead or participate in cross-functional MSL projects
- Collaborate across Amgen field roles for a unified One Amgen experience
- Mentor other MSLs as designated
- Complete administrative duties (Veeva CRM, expenses, compliance) promptly
- Maintain and enhance clinical/scientific acumen and monitor healthcare trends
- Build and maintain strong external relationships and effectively communicate data
Key requirements- Doctorate degree plus 2 years of Medical Affairs experience OR
- Master's degree plus 6 years of Medical Affairs experience OR
- Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of Medical Affairs experience
- 2+ years in a medical science liaison role in biotech/pharma
- Current experience in Scientific/Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
- Cardiometabolic and/or Obesity expertise
